You thought we forgot...well kind of

Where has the time gone?! It has been a long time since we last updated anyone on Gwen or our lives. Gwen is now almost 14 months old (she will be on the 5th of October). She is definitely on the GO!!! She climbs on everything, gets into everything and of course has a strong personality. (She must get that from her daddy) She is now an expert on making certain animal noises including the dog, lion, duck, cow and camel. She can also do the Monster! She likes to do the motorboat (really an undescribable experence to witness). She has a favorite morning routine of watching Baby Badger (a Wisconsin Badger video of "Raising Tomorrow's Wisconsin Fan Today". She likes this video so much that on any given day we need to watch it twice. Since this routine started she has noticed and called attenion to anything Wisconsin colored or has Bucky on it. I guess there is more of it around than I ever thought, she sure knows how to find it all. The other night she woke up in the middle of the night just screaming and crying, she did this for almost an half hour before we brought her in our room. As soon as we walked in there she stopped crying and pointed to the T.V and said her version of Baby Badger. We turned it on and all the crying stopped. We wathced it through and off to bed she went, like nothing ever happened. This movie is heaven sent. They do counting (showing jersey numbers), colors (only red, white and red & white), show the marching band, and go through Wisconsin traditions. It is so cute.

As for the rest of us. Jamie turned 30 last week. I started a new school site this year. Kobe got taken (we did get him back -long story!) and Lucy...well she started having seziures. Other than that we are doing nothing. Trying to find time to be together and relax. I will try and remember to update this more often ... so look for upcoming posts.

The Long Overdue Updates

It has been a long time since we posted last. We have been busy, busy, busy!!! Gwen is definitely keeping us busy. She is 9 months old and on the GO! She has 1o teeth...working on #11 and 12. She likes to crawl all over the place, puch her walker and wagon as well as cruise the furniture. Just this weekend she stood by herself for a bit without holding onto anything. She is getting into EVERYTHING. She likes doors, cupboards, drawers, closets, laundry, dog kennels, dishwasher, etc. You name it she has tried it. She has NO fear.
Lately her new things are dancing to music and pulling everything out of the cupboards. This weekend Jamie and I went to Menards and bought locks and corner cushions. We put the corner cushions on the end table (which we should have done when she first started pulling up on things 2 months ago... but better late than never). We had them on for about a whole hour before Gwen bit them off. So much for putting them on. Who knows what she is going to do once the locks go up. I have a feeling she is going to do anything to get to the tupperware (see pics of Gwen and her sidekick getting in to trouble in the cupboards :) ).

Two of the cutest things she has started doing is mimicing us and giving kisses. About 2 weeks ago I had a little cold which entailed a bit of a cough. After a few days of having a cough Gwen started coughing too. I thought she might be coming down with the cold as well. Come to find out that wasn't the case. She was just mimicing me. Anytime I cough (now it isn't real anymore...I do it for pretend) she coughs back. Along with the cough is the kissing. I will tell her to give mommy a kiss and she will plant a big, wet, open mouthed kiss on my cheek. I love her kisses. Oh yeah, she will only do this when SHE wants to.

Other updates. Gwen has found a new love for dolls. She carries this one particular "Dolly" around with her and sleeps with her.(see pic..in the pic she is also sleeping with her glow baby, it can be a crowded crib, but anything to help her sleep when teething so hard). She is waving back to people when they wave hi and bye. Saying words like mama, dada, nana and baba. At her last appointment (which was her 9 month appointment on May 7th) she weighed 20 pounds (with a wet diaper on). She was about 65 % for weight and height. She is slowly getting hair (it seems all her concentration is one growing teeth), but it is coming in nice.

Baby foods are becoming a thing of the past. Lately she is not wanting jared food anymore. She likes real food, especially if she can feed herself. The new foods she likes are toast, hotdogs, yogurt, pudding, beans, pasta, chicken and crackers.
It is so much fun!!! She seems to amaze us every day.

As for mom and dad... I am coming to an end with After School programming. I am getting ready for summer. I am the coordinator for the summer school program at our school. Other than that I started a part time job working concessions out at the ball diamond where Jamie is umping. Jamie is same old, same old. He is still working at his job in Green Bay and started his summer part time job of umping. We are ready for the weather to stay nice so we can get some work done in the back yard and finish our driveway.
Thats about it for now...we will try to make more regular posts.

Kalahari Water Park

Mid March I had a work conference at the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells. Jamie and Gwen were able to join me. This was Gwen's first experience swimming, other than in the bath tub. She was emotionless while in the water but when we would take her out she would get really excited to go back in. She did really well! Jamie even took her down a child sized waterslide. This didn't go as smoothly as we would have hoped. It was a little more than I think they both expected. Neither of them cried, they both just got really wet. Sam, who works for me at the Club as well as Gwen's babysitter when Grandma is busy, was also there. We had a wonderful time and are excited to get Gwen back in the water soon.

Gwen's 7 Month Photo Shoot

Here are a few pictures I tried doing at home for Gwen's 7 Month photos. These didn't turn out that well since all she wanted to do was "GO". As stated in the last post, Gwen likes to move. She wants to explore and doesn't like to sit for anything.

New way of Playing

One of the new things Gwen has discovered is pulling herself up to standing and then playing with her toys. In these pictures she had crawled over to her walker, stood up, and liked playing with all the fun stuff on the front of the walker.

She can crawl, pull herself up on things, cruise on furniture and toys and most recently can carefully put herself back on the floor without just tipping over. She is loving her new freedom. With that freedom of hers, Jamie and I are CRAZY busy just trying to keep up with her. She won't sit still and likes to explore! She finds a way to amaze us every day. For those of you who haven't seen her lately you wouldn't believe how much she likes to move and talk! She must get that from daddy???!!! (Just kidding)

Mommy and Gwen

We had some time one morning before I had to go into work so we tried taking some pictures together. As you can tell my aim isn't the best but some of them turned out cute either way.

Gwen's Purple Hat

When I was shopping the other day I ran across this hat. I thought "It miiiiight be cute?!" Well, I do think she is adorable in it. Jamie on the other hand doesn't think the same. She isn't much of a fan of it on the right way (she smiled right away and then took it off and threw it) but seemed to not mind so much when it was on either side ways or backwards (which are the ways I like it best too). What do they say...Like mother like daughter. She was acting so goofy that day and the hat just topped it off.

Big Girl in the High Chair

I had to post this picture since I think she looks SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOO big! She looks like such a grown up girl holding her own bottle. I was looking at Gwen in earlier pictures of her in her high chair and can really see how much she as grown. Where has the time gone?!

Puppies

Here is a picture of our "crazy" dogs. Many of you come over and you probably think that our dogs NEVER settle down, but as we say...they are lazy dogs when no one is here. This picture was taken on one Saturday afternoon. Gwen and I were playing while Jamie and the dogs took a rest.

Kelly's Birthday Vacation

For my 27th Birthday Jamie suprised me with a trip to Florida. We went from February 1st - 4th. We went to Orlando and stayed with our friends Tom and Jen. We jammed the weekend full of activites. On Friday we went to the "City Walk" at Universal. We had dinner that night at Margarittaville followed by hitting some bars and watching an awesome performance of dewling pianos at Pat O'Briens. On Saturday we went to Disney, rode the monarail and shopped at Downtown Disney before we went to dinner and played Dominos back at their place. Sunday was the Big B-day and for that we went to Sea World all day up until the Super Bowl. On the way back to their place we throught we would run into Wal-mart to pick up a pizza and some drinks. Tom and Jen both mentioned how risky this would be since this Wal-mart isn't the ideal store for people like us to be stopping by, but with the time crunch and thinking that it would be a quick stop we took that risk. Well maybe we shouldn't have!!! When we parked the car Tom actually got out of the car and ran into the store only to continue running the whole way. Our stop was making record time. Yet on the way out of the store we witnessed some Black men (about three) on top of a white man, in the middle of the road right in front of the door we were walking out, throwing what looked like some punches and putting some handcuffs on this man. We found the quickest route to the car and vowed to never visit that Wal-mart again. Monday wrapped up the vacation with more shopping, sitting in the sun and site seeing before we caught our flight at 6:00pm.

~The Highlights
1. The Weather (85-90, everyday)

Gwen sleeping

So with the Holidays behind us we were all tired. Gwen was so tired one night that she was able to fall asleep just laying on Daddy's stomach. Maybe that means with the Holidays we added some extra "Padding" to the stomach area?! Either way...It was so cute seeing her sleep like that.

Packer Game

Jamie and a couple friends were able to get some tickets to go to the last Packer Game! At first I was really jealous but after the weather came in and they ended up losing I was okay with staying home. He and his friends had a good time even with the brutal cold.

Christmas 2007~ Gwen's 1st Christmas

We have been extremely busy for the last few weeks, like I am sure many of you were too. On top of having the typical holiday celebrations we have also seen friends from out of the country, over come sicknesses (and still fighting), undecorated and rearranged three rooms in the house, went back to work, attended a funeral, and tried to take in every possible last momemt of 2007 and ring in the start of 2008.
My very good friend from High School, Kristin, was back in the country from Austria for a few weeks and she hadn't been here since her wedding in June. That means that she hadn't met Gwen until this trip. It was really exciting sharing our precious Gwen with her. We were able to spend some time together and hang out like old times. She recently headed back to Austria and we will see her again in August. By then Gwen will be almost 1, wow!!! Have fun in Autria Kris and see you in a few months. Miss you and get your *&# back to the states.
All of us in the house have been fighting some illnesses for awhile not but we are finally on the up swing. I first started now feeling well Friday December 21st. That only lasted a few days and was doing a bit better over Christmas. Gwen was the next one to get sick on the Friday after Christmas. She had been a little stuffy and rosy cheeked but we just thought she was getting some more teeth. We had been giving her Tylenol but that Friday night she got hit very hard with what turned out to be an upper respitory infection. We brought her into the emergency room that night since she was having a hard time breathing and had a very high temp. They checked her lung by doing a chest x ray (if you never have to watch them take a chest x ray of an infant be glad- it was aweful) and that came back clear but due to the severity of her symptoms we had an appointment with our pediatrician the next morning. He also confirmed that it was an upper respitory infection. He said that her temp could continue to spike for a days but should be feeling better with in about 5-7 more days. We had 2 humidifiers plugged in at all times. She was on tylenol and did spike the temps just like the doctor had said. We were continuously sucking out her nose just so she could breath. It was really scary being the first time she had been sick. Jamie and I camped out on her floor both Saturday and Sunday nights just so we would be close by and could keep up with the tylenol and sucking as needed. She wasn't sleeping well either, we were lucky to be getting about 20-30 minutes between her waking up due to stuffiness. That weekend both Jamie and I had then gotten sick so we stayed around home and tried resting whenever possible. Jamie started feeling better that week but mine is still lingering. That Thursday we took Gwen back in to the pediatrician because she still was not doing well. Now she had developed a bad cough and was still spiking some really high temps even 7 days after going to the emergency room. We then found out that she has an ear infection. She wouldn't let him look in one of her ears come hell or high water. He said that was fine since he was able to see the infection in the other ear so he could start her on meds even with not seeing in that ear. He was guessing that she did have it in that ear too and that being the reason she wouldn't let him see in it. Either way, if it was a single or a double he treats it the same way. So now we are just finishing her 10 day course of antibiotics and she is finally getting back to herself. Jamie is doing fine, back to himself (just hoping not to catch anything back) and I am still fighting. I went to the doctor this week because I knew I didn't have just a cold and I was right, I have a sinus infection which they gave me antibiotics for (the same on they had Gwen on) ~ She was really sick and that was aweful. I have a wicked cough and a tight chest but I can handle that. I would be sick any day then have to watch Gwen be sick again. All in all. Gwen was sick for 19 days, Jamie about 5 and I am going on 3 weeks.
We took our dying Christmas tree down last weekend (and put all those presents away - we didn't know if we would find room for them all - see picture) and cleaned our house so whatever was hanging around in it that was making us sick would be gone. In that process we decided to rearrange our living room, dining room and playroom.
After the nice long vacation both Jamie and I had we went back to work and tried getting back into a routine. But I was only back for one day then had to take some sick days then again went back for one day before I took some time to attend my good friend Holly's (from middle school) Grandmother's funeral. Grandma had lived with Holly and her parents for a few years so in that time I was able to get to know her very well. Holly and her husband Jason were then home for a few days and we were able to spend some nice time together.

We had a WONDERFUL Christmas. We were able to spend some nice family time together. On Christmas Eve we went to church with my mom (my dad was called out of town for work but was able to meet up with us in time for dinner), brother and sister-in-law before we went to my grandma and grandpa's (my mom's mom and dad's) for dinner. We had a nice dinner there and was able to spend some time with my cousins and their significant others who mostly live out of town. It is always a nice time to see everyone and watch the family grow. After dinner we went back to my parents to exchange gifts as an immediate family. Like always we were beyond spoiled. This year we had to make a couple of truck loads back to our house with all the presents. I don't know how Gwen is ever going to play with it all! Later that evening we stopped out at my aunt and uncles home where we had a short time to see them. We found out that My cousin Craig (finally) proposed to his long time girlfriend Susan. We are so excited for them and Susan will make a great addition to the family. Congratulations to Craig and Susan! After we were done there we headed home to catch what we could before we started the celebrations on Christmas Day. For Christmas Day we spent most of the day at my parents. We had breakfast there and then relaxed most of the day and then went home to spend some quality time as a family Christmas night and Gwen opened her gifts from mom and dad and from Santa! This completed the evening and for the most part the Christmas Holiday. We didn't travel to Manitowoc this year on Christmas day due to us celebrating there the weekend before. On the Saturday prior to Christmas we celebrated with the Vraney's which is Jamie's mom's side. We stayed over that night and then did his immediate family that Sunday. We watched the Packer game there, had some pizzas and then started what turned out to be a nerve racking drive home. This was due to the bad weather on Sunday that made driving conditions horrible. We were very happy and relieved to finally reach home safely that evening. So our Christmas celebrations lasted 4 days but they were 4 very nice days.

Finally the pictures ~~~
